Our “Idiocracy”

A number of years back, there was a movie made with Luke Wilson called “Idiocracy.”  In the movie, Luke is transported into the future where our country had been basically turned into a nation of idiots dependent on the government for everything.  The government owns everything and the only sustenance for food is the government corporation which essentially hawks its own version of “Gatorade” as the solution to everything.  The masses are ignorant and the government has turned them against water, so there are no crops or any plant life.  The whole movie is a satire on how stupid we can all get when dependent on government or anyone else to provide for us and then when it is gone, people are freaking because they don’t know how to do basic things like use a phone.  We suggest getting it and watching it, if anything, for some laughs.
The Growing Idiocracy
There is a growing idiocracy in this country as evidenced by many things such as “Obama phones” and the video ”treat” from Judge Judy below.
More importantly, there is a level of dependence that is at all-time highs and continuing to grow on the government.  The

only question is, “what happens when the government is no longer able to provide or gets crushed under its own weight (debt)?”  Even Liberals have to admit that when the “gravy train” ends, it will not be pretty for anyone, especially those who are very dependent on the government.

There are thousands of people out there, just like the people in the video above, who are getting the same benefits and are contributing to the growing idiocracy.  The Democrats know this and prey on this as they are easy votes, and they know that once you get the idiocracy over 50 percent, you are all set — just keep promising handouts and make up excuses, or change the narrative when things don’t happen the way you promised.  The idiots will believe you, because they are dependent on you.
More Signs of the Idiocracy at Work
A short few weeks ago, a great American icon — Hostess — was shut down. The Bakers’ Union would not compromise on cuts.  Even the Teamsters had agreed to cuts, but the Bakers’ Union refused to face reality.  That reality is first and foremost that a business cannot sustain itself if it cannot pay its bills.
Secondly, a business has shareholders that invest for a return on their investment.  This helps to grow the company.  When investors find that they cannot get a return, they pull their money and it is the end of the business.  Reality is that you cannot pay someone who watches Twinkies go by on a conveyor belt an exorbitant hourly rate and ridiculous benefits.  It is unsustainable as the Bakers’ Union has now found out.Furthermore, do you know the current Union rules that were in place at Hostess?  First, Hostess trucks were not allowed to carry Wonder bread and Twinkies in the same vehicle.  That’s right, so — two vehicles had to drive separately to the same store to stock the shelves.  Even more ridiculous, the drivers of the trucks were not allowed to take the product that they drove and stock the shelves — a separate employee had to accompany each truck and stock the shelves while the driver waited.  Think about how much extra, beyond the salaries and benefits, these rules made the cost of business!
Honestly, with having to run a business like that, I am amazed that Hostess lasted this long!  But, no worries, now 18,000 or more people are out of work and the unions just lost a lot of union dues.  Let the Idiocracy roll on!
The Inept President
This President confounds me.  He doesn’t seem to know anything. The head of the CIA is having an affair, being tracked and monitored by the FBI, and then when asked, the President has no idea this is happening?  On top of that, you have Benghazi, where they are trying to change the story all over the place, and even with testimony that the President knew that night it happened that it was terrorism, he still went on and on about a video for weeks and still is “waiting on all the facts.”  Now we have the Susan Rice debacle.  Every time something happens in this administration, the “President didn’t know” or thought it was something other than what it was — or it was somebody else’s fault.  More and more, he seems incredibly inept.  A perfect leader for an Idiocracy — the constituents don’t know anything, so why should their leader have to?
The government is one of the best examples of the Peter Principle or what is also referred to as the “Dilbert Principle.”  This is widely known in business and states that “people will be promoted to their highest level of incompetency.”  This actually makes sense as if you do a good job, you are promoted, and eventually you get to a point where your skill and knowledge levels are not what are needed for the job. When there is nothing to hold you accountable (shareholders or a market), then you can be as incompetent as you want and keep your position.  Think about what you have seen in just the last four years with the GSA scandals, Benghazi, and the passing of the Healthcare Law (“we have to pass it to see what is in it”).
In many cases, we have let the Peter Principle take hold and have allowed these people to have immense power.  Just wait until they start monkeying with health care and have access to our bank accounts as it says in the law!
What Happens When An Idiocracy Begins to Crumble?
Throughout history, France has given us some great examples of what not to do.  Most recently, the new socialist Prime Minister is having to deal with the fact that France’s idiocracy and economy are crumbling.  So, the solution?  Demonize the rich and raise their taxes over 70 percent.  One problem is that the rich will either shut things down or leave.  Read what is happening in France with their largest corporations (ie. biggest employers) and think about what will begin to happen in the not too distant future as we start to go down the same road.
France’s government currently accounts for 56 percent of GDP — not good.  That means only 44 percent of the economy comes from private business.  And private business is the only vehicle to create “new wealth.”  Government does not create wealth, it simply moves it from one place (taxpayers) to another (handouts).  Furthermore, the socialist Prime Minister of France is now threatening to socialize companies that do not do what he wants.  We have seen this play out through history and it never ends well.
Can we be Saved from Our Own Ignorance?
Of course, we can!  But it will take us educating ourselves first and understanding our founding documents and history (that is why the Constitution and Declaration are so important).  It will also take — from those of us willing out there — working to help educate others and teaching them the value of themselves as the individual, and the power that they have within given to them by their Creator — not from government.  In the end, the truth is that “we surround them” (the government) and not the other way around.
Next week, we will tackle the ridiculous nature of the “fiscal cliff,” discuss what it actually will mean to you, and the lies perpetrated around your taxes.

  1. I’ve seen that Judge Judy episode before. Difficult to believe there are people out there who have no sense, but there are. We can only wonder what will happen when the day comes there are no more entitlements to be had — and that day is coming.

  2. The Judge Judy video showed who is the constituency that voted in the president of the Idiocracy….and soon we will be controlled by them and their needs… Revolting is he only word that comes to mind, as both as an adjective and a verb!
