Am I to suppose you don’t want to be accused of peddling in facts? From the CDC: TOTAL homicides in 2009, 16,799; homicides from firearms, 11,493; homicides from “other and unspecified means,” 5,306. (http://www.cdc.gov/nchs/data/nvsr/nvsr60/nvsr60_03.pdf Page 39 of the PDF.)
For someone that spends so much time bashing the “lame stream media” you would think you might do some fact checking before posting such obviously ridiculous information. Now, one final link (http://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/credibility).
funny.. Tyson really owned you with a can of whoop FACTS! I saw this picture on facebook and set out to debunked it… after going thru the data at the CDC and determining this picture is false.. I stumbled upon this site with the same picture. Tyson is correct. This picture is just another lame piece of propaganda. Why even try to spread falsehoods in an age when you can factcheck these kind of things in Seconds!
I am not the one reading impaired. Your chart claims 16,799 “non-firearm homicides.” That is the figure for “total homicides”, not “non-firearm homicides”. Please explain what you believe “non-firearm homicides” means when it includes the “firearm homicides” for 2009. Sorry for the tough love, but you need to be wary about what you post.
Since there are more unintentional falls have more deaths than firearm homicides then we should ban unintentional falls first. Then once that number drops to 0 we will concentrate on banning firearms.
There are a couple of issues with your logic, Keefe. First, unintentional falls are the result of a person having an accident and the Law of Gravity. Second, the person responsible for flaunting the Law of Gravity is also the victim of their own actions.
Firearm homicides by definition are the murder of one person by another with a gun. So firearm homicides are not an accident and they involve hurting someone else. While the government cannot restrict or license gravity it can restrict and license firearms.
Lastly, comparing a person falling off a ladder to the six adults and twenty child victims in Connecticut is insulting to their memories and ghoulish.

More facts! From the FBI (http://www.fbi.gov/about-us/cjis/ucr/crime-in-the-u.s/2011/crime-in-the-u.s.-2011/tables/table-20): Total murders in America in 2011, 12,664; of that 8,583 were with firearms; knives and other cutting instruments resulted in 1,694 deaths; other weapons (like baseball bats, which are known for their mass slaying capabilities) 1,659 deaths.

Tyson: We are so sorry you are reading challenged. In your verbose retort, you apparently missed that your numbers are the same as those in the chart.
It’s a good thing you looked up “credibility.” Perhaps that definition will be of assistance to you in the future.
