Government Shutdown: King Obama Has Spoken and Americans Can Shove It If We Don’t Let Him Have His Way
It must feel so good to be King Obama…
It’s always interesting when you hear things about the government that are not favorable and reflect badly on our so-called leaders. Such is the case with the recent shutdown of the non-essential areas of our government.
This past March, we learned that if the government was forced into a sequester or shut down at some future point, some in DC wanted it to be made as painful as possible so that we the people would send a strong message to Congress that they needed to work things out. Not long after the Obama administration announced the cancellation of White House tours, the administration issued another email to another federal agency which was “instructed to make sure the cuts are as painful as President Obama promised they would be.”
We’ve seen the kind of chicanery coming from the White House that attempts to make things as bad as possible for Americans. The trouble is that it’s not really being felt yet, except by those who have been sent home (though they’re told they will receive back pay). We need to remember the reason most of us have not felt it is due to the fact that the government shutdown – such as it is – is really only with non-essential services. That being the case, imagine how much money the federal government is saving each day. It also begs the question that if these are truly non-essential services, then why is the government offering them in the first place?
But in order to make Americans “feel it,” Obama has resorted to acting like a big baby who isn’t getting his way. So is Harry Reid. Obama’s plan to make people hurt is to close the national monuments. Is there any reason for that? None.
The federal government though, has stated that they want to ensure that people from the federal government are on hand to administer CPR at the monuments if needed. I see.
The difficulty in believing that position is that normally, the monuments are open 24 hours per day, seven days a week, though any gift shops associated with each are not. Park Rangers are also not at each monument 24 hours per day. For some of the monuments, like the Lincoln Memorial, “Rangers are on duty to answer questions from 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 p.m. and provide interpretive programs every hour on the hour from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 p.m.” People can continue to visit after these hours when on rangers are on hand.
With this knowledge, we learn just how petty the Obama administration is in its attempts to blackmail Congress (specifically the GOP) into doing something. Let’s not forget, Obama has no interest in negotiating at all. He wants Congress to come to the table with no-strings-attached on whether the government should “reopen.” In other words, Obama wants the government shutdown to end and then he said he would be willing to “negotiate on budgets once these crises are past.”
In the end, Obama wants it his way or the highway. Then – maybe – he’ll think about negotiating with Congress on a few things. Maybe he won’t.
To make his point, the monuments are closed and even though they have been closed before, they are now barricaded. Though we the people own those monuments, we do not have access to them. Why? Because the Obama administration wants it to hit home for people so that they will become angry not at him, but at the GOP. Obama is essentially using Americans as the wedge to force Congress to do what he wants them to do. We are Obama’s hostages. Not even Bill Clinton did this when government shut down during his term.
This attitude from Obama also pits Park Rangers against average citizens. One Park Ranger stated in anger, “It’s a cheap way to deal with the situation…We’ve been told to make life as difficult for people as we can. It’s disgusting.” Isn’t that nice? People will take out their anger on rangers.
This is really the worst form of dirty politics because we the people have no direct way to make things happen in DC. Yet, we wind up having to deal with the whims and capriciousness of politicians, most of whom would not know the truth if it bit them.
The idea that one man – whether it’s Mr. Obama or Harry Reid – can essentially do what they can do to make life miserable for Americans is beyond the pale. Blaming it on the GOP (or anyone else is Congress) is just as abysmally ridiculous.
Mr. Obama will go down in history as the first president to – with force – make the monuments and other areas of public places in DC off limits to Americans. How much money is being spent to pay these people to put up barricades and then stand watch over the monument so that no one can get in? It is so childish that if it wasn’t really happening, it would be comical.
Unfortunately, we have a president who cares only about one thing – making sure it is done his way or everyone else can take the highway. He doesn’t want to negotiate. When a federal judge rules against him, he ignores it. Breaking laws? No worries. He does what the puppet masters want him to do because his ultimate goal is to please the Global Elite. To do that, he can’t care about what the average American thinks or do what’s best for us. Just wants to make it painful for us.
Just read that priests in the military are being threatened with arrest if they minister to military during shutdown.
King Obama is speaking. If we don’t like it, apparently, we can shove it. That’s the only option.by
